Paco Racru is a Mexican visual artist whose work reflects what he describes as his “happy process toward death”. Rather than focusing on complex political or philosophical messages, Racru seeks to organize visual elements that evoke positive emotions. Through vibrant compositions, he aims to create a sense of tranquility and harmony for the viewer. “I did not come into the world to make religion or politics”, he explains. “I came to unleash positive feelings through my work. Art is my happy process toward death; it is my state of peace”.
Born in Tijuana, Baja California, Racru spent part of his childhood in Hermosillo, Sonora, where he first discovered his vocation for art. He later moved to Guadalajara, Jalisco, to study Visual Arts at the Instituto Cultural Cabañas, where he spent five years immersed in academic training and classical techniques. This experience strengthened his command of realism, which, together with his distinctive and often exuberant use of color, became a defining element of his artistic language.
Racru’s work is characterized by the human figure, spontaneous gesture, and an arbitrary excess of color. He believes art is not something created but rather a gift that already exists within materials, waiting to be liberated by the artist. His work has been exhibited widely in Mexico and internationally, including presentations in Paris, Utrecht, Madrid, Indianapolis, Salerno, Buenos Aires, and various cities across Mexico.
