Efrén González, an artist from Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico, began painting at the age of eight and has since built a lifelong career in the visual arts. He works in oil, watercolor, pastel, acrylic, papier-mâché, and clay. Deeply inspired by daily life and the light of Mexico, his work reflects a style he calls “Mexican Impressionism.” He has run his own gallery in Ajijic since 2002 and created murals in both public and private spaces, including the ambitious “Mural de los Muertos,” which will feature over 2,400 commemorative skulls.

González has exhibited across Mexico, the United States, and Canada, and has given talks at schools, cultural centers, and consulates. He has represented Mexico at international events like the Plein Air Magazine conferences and received a grant to work at the Sam Coronado Silkscreening Studio in Austin, Texas. His passion for painting continues to drive him, and while he has achieved much, he believes the best of his artistic journey is still ahead.
